The Musketeers Brewery creates specialty beers of outstanding and surprising character. The brewery allows itself to be inspired by a number of styles and flavours. Doing so, the brewers are able to produce well-balanced and intelligent Belgian quality beers.
The Musketeers Brewery is well-known for its Troubadour range, with the flagship beer Troubadour Magma, and the beers from the Belgian Legends Series.
Troubadour Westkust is a dark, almost black tasting beer with notes of hop, roasted malt, coffee and subtle hints of chocolate and vanilla. The taste is a balance between roasted malt and coffee followed by a strong but pleasant bitterness that slowly becomes more persistent and creates a long hoppy aftertaste. Troubadour Westkust is an excellent choice to end a culinary evening.
“I love good food. Nothing is as fun as cooking at home or enjoying a nice meal out at a restaurant. My girlfriend says I go out to eat too much and thinks I am living the ‘bon vivant’ lifestyle. And I can’t say she’s wrong. I’ll never skip dessert and nothing goes as well with that as a delicious Troubadour Westkust. It is the perfect end to a hard day’s work. I’ve earned this!” — NICOLAS
We set ourselves a challenge with our Troubadour Westkust: How can we strike the right balance between the characteristics of roasted malt, coffee and vanilla followed by a strong yet pleasant bitterness? People do not expect the long hoppy aftertaste. And every time we hear them say it, we think: “mission accomplished!

TROUBADOUR MAGMA HOP TWIST
Each year The Musketeers Brewery releases a special one-time edition of the Troubadour Magma beer. The brewers achieve these creations by changing up one part of the brewing recipe.
In previous editions, the recipe has varied with the types of hops used and some unique combinations of yeast. For the 2017 Special Edition the brewers have only played around with the amount of the ingredients. By changing the quantity of malts and hops, they have given the Troubadour Magma a special twist: lighter and more bitter, a true IPA of 7%.
The typical and well-known Troubadour Magma aroma of citrus, exotic fruits, mango and hops is still very present. The flavour is mildly fruity and spicy with a hint of caramel. The bitter character shines through quickly. The dry and bitter-hops finish lingers for a while.
Magma Hop Twist
“The Magma Hop Twist is the perfect end to a busy, sultry summer packed with activities. At the end of summer, I like to relax on a calm terrace with a refreshing Magma Hop Twist, while enjoying the last sun rays.” —LIEZE
Brewing a unique beer does not boil down merely to using different ingredients, but also the proportions thereof. We wanted to surprise every beer lover with this special edition: try and see what happens when we change the proportion of hop and malt of the regular Troubadour Magma!

35 EBC – Coper
70 IBU – Midly fruity, spicy with a hint of caramel, dry and bitter-hops finish
The amber-coloured specialty beer Troubadour Magma has the aromatic and hoppy-bitter character of an American Indian Pale Ale, but is softened by the fruitiness of a Belgian Tripel. Enthusiasts appreciate the explosion of fruity scents from dry hopping. Perfect to enjoy on a night out during a sunny spring or autumn day.
“Now and then I like to indulge. But not too much and not without a good reason. And a Troubadour Magma is a great excuse. My mates and I like to go out and look for the up and coming bars in town. And if they serve Magma, we’ll return for sure. If they don’t, we’ll end the night by opening up one at home.” —MAARTEN
Our Troubadour Magma is our showpiece that bowls everyone over. It is a fruity Belgian triple with the bitterness of an IPA, and an explosive aroma of exotic fruit. A match made in heaven, in summer and winter alike. Our Magma is a real beer that is making a name for itself!

TROUBADOUR IMPERIAL STOUT
Troubadour Imperial Stout is a real Imperial Stout, but with a Belgian twist. The beer is almost black and has a solid crème coloured head. It is a powerful beer with strong roasted fragrances. You can taste notes of chocolate, toffee and coffee, followed by a bitter aftertaste. A beer made for careful savouring, ideal to accompany a cosy night with friends.
“I often travel abroad for work, but when I’m here I like to organise poker or card game nights for my friends in my loft. And those nights always include savouring some quality Belgian specialty beers. My choice is always a Troubadour Imperial” —JELLE
Let’s try stout, for once, we thought. So stout in fact, that we brewed a beer that takes on the challenge with its drinker. We prefer our Troubadour Imperial Stout as a nightcap … as the icing on the cake of a nice evening.
