Used To Be Apes is a rock band based in Milan, Italy

From the slow, intimate ballads to the fast paced, high-octane rock ’n’ roll, the band doesn’t shy away from any sonic challenges but meets them with unique taste and curiosity. 

Inspired by legends and innovators alike, their music is a blend of different genres and encompasses everything that can be conveyed with a fuzz-driven bass or a mellow piano. 

Their debut album “HINDSIGHT” is a well-curated collection of sounds and lyrics celebrating youth’s exuberance and love as well as rage, anxiety and doubt.

The band has acquired consistent live experience since its inception in 2018 and delivers consistently energising performances thanks to the explosive energy of its members.

The style of their sophomore album is married to the DIY aesthetic of the underground independent world, so much so that following this philosophy, the members retreated in the mountains of Lessinia during summer of ’21 to compose and record the album. 

During this period they were free to explore recording and composing techniques that deviated from the orthodoxy; no dogmas, nothing too sacred that held up to the band’s curiosity and ingenuity to create something personal that would reflect the spirit in which the songs were thought and created. 

This is their ideal of music, the concept of game as the purest form of artistic expression. 

The album represents a further elaboration of the sound delivered in Hindsight, with added explorations into psychedelia as well as original rock ’n’ roll, from The Beatles to Sabbath, to Pink Floyd, to The Strokes to King Gizzard.
